Clara Bow is a name that may not be familiar to modern day cinema goers, but in her day she was a really big draw. It was the silent era in the 1920's and Clara Bow was the original 'It Girl' following her breakthough as a Shopgirl a film called 'It'. Throughout the decade she personified the 'Roaring Twenties' and it is rumoured that he looks and figure were the inspiration for Betty Boop. The picture below suggests there may be some truth in this story.
Frances is in the early stages of designing a new gown to be called Clara. It should be ready for a photoshoot later this month at Gaddens House in the New Forest. Watch this space for pictures and more information.

Back to work and how better to start than with a birthday celebration! My lovely assistant, Hannah's birthday and news of her engagement over Christmas as well. My neice also announced her engagement so what a great way to start the new year. Our first bride this year is getting married in South Africa and so we have been working hard sewing on crystals, sequins and beads as she needs her dress by the end of January. Not too much pressure! This morning have already measured another lucky girl who is getting married in a tree house. Thought this was such a great idea. She is going for a slightly unusual design and cant wait to start that. I also have just had an order for a lovely faux fur wrap which will be made in a frothy fur-so snuggly.
